Assessment Update

NSL front of school

Dear School Community,

Here are the latest plans for our students this term, in light of the latest announcements from the Premier. It is important to note that some of our students are currently able to attend school and some are not. I encourage all of our students to continue with their studies and to contact their teachers if there are any difficulties.

Year 12
NESA has announced some new dates for the Oral examinations. Some languages are the same dates and some have changed. Students’ personal exam timetables for the oral and written exams will be updated in Schools Online and Students Online by 12pm on 30 July.

Meanwhile, NSL Year 12 students will complete Assessment 4 in Week 7 (23 - 27 August). Extension students will have their Assessment 3 (Written) task on 30 August (Week 8). Please check the new timetable. The tasks have been designed to be completed at home or at school, depending on your school’s situation. Information will be sent soon with instructions for students to book in.

Year 11
Assessment 3 will proceed in Week 8 and 9 (30 August - 10 September) This exam will be done online – either at home or in school. Students and Supervisors will be sent further details. Please check the new timetable.

Year 10
The planned assessment in Week 5 (9-13 August) will proceed online in Canvas as scheduled.

Year 9
Assessment 2 that was to have been held this week, will now be completed in Week 5 (9 – 13 August).
Assessment 3 in Week 7 (23 – 27 August) will proceed as planned. Both of these assessments can be completed in Canvas, either at home or at school.

To ensure the integrity of the assessments, we ask that students and schools prioritise completing their tasks at the specified time.

If there are technical hiccups, students will be provided with the opportunity to resit the assessment if possible. Our teachers are also working from home, so occasionally they are subject to the disruptions and demands on the internet at their house too. Please be assured that our staff have every student at the centre of their work and are always doing their best to maximise the learning.

Kind regards

Hilary Hughes
Principal
