The Stage 5 (Year 9 and 10) students work through an updated course developed specifically for Distance Education. The 200-hour course is complemented via blended learning: a significant number of interactive e-learning tasks which enable students to consolidate their learning. A wide variety of audio, video and visual materials presented through the e-learning site brings the study of the language and culture alive. Regular speaking lessons with the teacher enable quick resolution of any problems in coursework. Study days or virtual Face-to-Face lessons enable students and teacher to interact with each other in a meaningful way.
100 hour course Indonesian
The 100 hour course is for Year 10 students who have not previously studied Indonesian. Students who complete the 100 hour course, remain eligible for the Stage 6 Beginners course, dependant on meeting other criteria and this course is excellent preparation for the Stage 6 Beginners course.
Stage 6 (Years 11 & 12)
Indonesian Beginners
Students gain a wide exposure to the Indonesian language, culture and way of life through a course complemented by e-learning delivery and a rich array of audio and visual material. Students work on materials designed for Distance Education by NSW School of Languages. Students are expected to submit work regularly. This includes handwritten submissions, interactive computer tasks as well as speaking lessons. This regular contact with their teacher enables the student to practise their oral and listening skills in addition to providing an opportunity to students to discuss any matter with their teacher. Study days or virtual Face-to-Face lessons enable students and teachers to interact with each other in a meaningful way.
Indonesian Continuers
Students develop all skills required in the syllabus. The course is delivered via blended learning: a wealth of self-correcting exercises so the students can get immediate feedback; there are also a variety of tasks which require students to consolidate their learning and to get examination practice. Students have weekly speaking lessons with their teacher during which time they can hone their Indonesian conversation skills and discuss anything needing clarification. Students also join the virtual or Face-to-Face lessons where they can easily contact their teacher as well as one another.
